The Tourbillon de Breguet of 1801
The Tourbillon was a new regulator that Abraham-Louis Breguet created, for this he studied the influence of gravity on clock movements and observed that gravity caused variations in the timing adjustment.
To solve this, it occurred to Breguet to put all the exhaust (the steering wheel, the spring, the anchor and the exhaust wheel) in a mobile car that performs a complete rotation per minute. Thus the regular repetition of failures produces a mutual compensation process.
The Spiral Breguet of 1795
The spiral is a small spring whose elasticity regulates the oscillations of the steering wheel and was created by the Dutch mathematician Huygens in 1675. Although it was a breakthrough it had several imperfections, so Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1795 solved the problem by raising the last turn of the spring and reducing its curvature to ensure the concentric development of the spiral.
With this invention the clocks were more precise, and the wear on the steering wheel shaft was minimized.
