Wooden screen in which the artist has intervened by painting one of the surfaces in oil and, in the case of the back, only with figurative details such as fans. Leaving the visible wood in this area. In the case of the completely painted surface, the artist has chosen an urban view that oscillates between the vedutista tradition and the customs typical of the 19th century. In this articulated and flexible screen, the author presents us with a view of Rome dominated by the Colosseum.

In this scene you can see an ideal, rational and orderly landscape where a great luminosity stands out. This landscape is organized in successive planes in which nature alternates with architecture. The characters make up a festive scene, interact with each other, thus creating an idyllic image where the author is influenced by an aesthetic and romantic heritage, developed during the second half of the 19th century and which led to a localist conception of the landscape, in works that they reflected the beauty and lyricism of the everyday, the close, the known.

Francisco Hohenleiter began his training in Puerto de Santa María, and in 1918 he moved to Seville, settling permanently in the city. An elegant and colorful painter, he soon became a benchmark in wall decoration and, fundamentally, in posters, magazines and book illustrations. In his works, influences from different styles such as modernism, manners and romanticism are combined. Through his posters, in the twenties he reinvented Holy Week in Seville, with works based on the use of color and the decoration of the line. As a painter, he focused on portraits, landscapes, and capturing popular types, mainly handsome, as well as traditional scenes. He also cultivated the nude, church interiors and still life. Throughout his career he showed his work in various Spanish cities and also in Paris, with an outstanding show that took place at the Charpentier gallery in 1932. Francisco Hohenleiter's painting has its roots in that of Jiménez Aranda and that of García. Ramos, and is inspired by Goya and Alenza. He became the glosser of romantic Seville, the portrait painter of Andalusia set to music by Albéniz. Currently there is his work scattered throughout Andalusia: wall paintings, posters, play programs, etc. Today it is represented in various museums and private collections.
